On Wednesday morning's episode of the "Today Show" (March 27), popular weekend broadcaster Jenna Wolfe happily announced that she was in an openly gay relationship with fellow NBC foreign news correspondent, Stephanie Gosk. Wolfe also revealed that the couple was engaged, and that she is "quite pregnant" with their first child - a baby girl. This is the first time Wolfe publicly addressed her sexuality, although the duo has been romantically involved for the past three years.
During her exciting "Today Show" "coming out" announcement, Wolfe also revealed:
"I'm actually pregnant... I'm quite pregnant, actually... Stephanie's extremely adventurous - she's been all over the world. You know me - there's not a building I haven't jumped off of. So for us, this is nothing like any of that... This is the adventure of a lifetime."
The 39-year-old TV personality also recently opened up about her personal life to People magazine, explaining, "This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to us... I didn't want to bring my daughter into a world where I'm not comfortable telling everyone who I am and who her mother is."
Wolfe and her 40-year-old NBC colleague Gosk have been dating for the past three years. After the relationship got serious, the couple decided they wanted to start a family. They looked into different options, and ultimately decided that Wolfe would carry the child though artificial insemination with an anonymous donor.
Wolfe and Gosk are currently engaged and can't wait to welcome a little bundle of joy into their lives sometime in August. Wolfe plans on updating fans about her pregnancy/wedding plans in a regular "Today.com" blog entitled "Jenna's (Baby) Food for Thought."
"The beauty is that we live in a time where there's no need for secrecy," Gosk tells People. "This is a spectacular moment for us. For a long time I had feared I would never have a child..."
"We can't wait to start," Wolfe chimes in.
Wolfe, who used to co-host Sunday's "Today Show" alongside Lester Holt, now works as the show's weekend newsreader.
