So far it looks like the Usher and Shakira experiment has worked for NBC and season 4 of "The Voice." The hit show hasn't lost a step since coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green left their judging chairs. Even the ratings for "The Voice" have gone up this season as the show continues on to its battle round next week. However, with the blind auditions just wrapping up there are rumors of new coach Usher playing the "diva" role off camera.
Daytime talk show host Wendy Williams is reporting on a story she apparently saw in Star Magazine, that is alleging Usher is acting like a diva. Obviously, out of the four coaches, one would assume the star acting like a diva would be Shakira because she is the lone female, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
While "American Idol" has its hands full with two divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, "The Voice" luckily only has to deal with one. It's disappointing to hear of these rumors, if of course they are true. According to Wendy Williams, Usher is showing up late and wants to "be catered to like he's the top dog on the show." Williams does state that there are two sides to every story and fellow judge Adam Levine is friendly to everyone on the show, but Usher. Maybe there is some tension between Levine and Usher?
Williams also said that Usher was going to be paid $1 million by a Chinese billionaire to perform at a birthday party, but Usher wanted a private plane for his entourage and had other ridiculous demands. In turn, the Chinese billionaire offered the gig to fellow "The Voice" coach Adam Levine.
Even if Usher's diva demands are true, NBC may not care much if the shows ratings continue to rise. According to Entertainment Weekly, "The Voice" just recently got 13.7 million viewers on one episode and a 4.9 rating among adults 18-49. If the show can continue its strong ratings, Usher may be able to get away with diva behavior.
Of course the Usher rumors are just that, rumors. There is no telling if there is any truth to these reports, but what do you think? Who is most likely to be a diva on "The Voice" set?
