Actor Scott Foley recently started working on the ABC show "Scandal' portraying Navy officer Jake Ballard and hopes to stay on for a while. His character is seen as an antagonist in the series, so he has admittedly gotten a lot of heat on Twitter from fans. The show's season finale is filming this week but it looks like Foley (who has another show, "The Goodwin Games," premiering soon) does not want to say good-bye to Kerry Washington and the rest of the cast.
The suspenseful political drama focuses on Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), a crisis manager who gets wrapped up in a case involving the President of the United States, Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn).
"I get a lot of heat and feedback on Twitter," Foley says. "Anything that comes in between Olivia and Fitz [disturbs fans]. And my character comes between them. I am seen as the bad guy in a lot of their eyes but I don't know how bad he is. I think he is following orders and I think he is just doing that."
Although he might be following orders, Ballard has been getting close with Pope in order to plant some surveillance cameras in her apartment but is there more to it than that?
"Maybe some personal feelings got in the way," Foley says. "But who can blame him? She is gorgeous."
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Foley answered a lot of questions about the show. When asked about how Grant would react to Ballard making the moves on Pope, the actor responded:
"I can only imagine what that would look like. Hypothetically, it would be ugly. Anytime you trust somebody and they betray your trust, the spiral you go through and the questions that you have -- not only about the reality of what's happening but also about yourself and the trust you put in someone -- is catastrophic. Should Fitz find out about Jake and Olivia, the outcome would be explosive. That being said, I have no idea what happens when Fitz finds out about Jake! (Laughs.)"
