American runway model Kendra Spears will soon become a princess when she marries Prince Rahim Aga Khan.

His Highness the Aga Khan announced in a press release last Friday that the 24-year-old Spears will marry his eldest son, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, in a traditional Muslim ceremony at a date to be announced.
The Aga Khan is the name given to the Imam, or spiritual leader, of the worldwide community of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. The current Aga Khan, Prince Shah Karim Al Husseini, has held his position since 1957 and currently lives in France.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan is a 41-year-old graduate of Brown University. According to the press release "he is involved in the poverty reduction efforts, notably micro-credit activities, of the Aga Khan Development Network, one of the largest private systems of agencies fostering social, cultural and economic development in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Spears, from Seattle, entered the fashion scene in 2008 when she won a Ford Models competition. Since then, she has appeared in Vogue and Elle, among other magazines, along with campaigns including Prada, Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, Diane von Furstenberg, Etro, The Limited and Peek & Cloppenburg.
Spears also holds a BA in sociology from the University of Washington and "has a strong interest in arts and architecture," according to the press release.
