Hough, a three-time "DWTS" champ, is currently shimming his way to victory with country singer/dance partner Kellie Pickler in season 16 of the popular dancing competition. Next up - finding his true love on "The Bachelor!" Well, maybe...
A recent Star report exclaims, "'Dancing with the Stars' cutie Derek Hough may just waltz his way into a $3 million paycheck - and possibly true love - as the next Bachelor on ABC's hit dating series."
But not so fast... several of Hough's close pals insist he's just not ready for that. Still, producers are very interested.
The world champion in Latin American dance isn't "keen on opening up on his private life," one alleged insider explains. "He had a crazy experience dating Cheryl Cole and hated the intrusion into his personal life."
But show creator Mike Fleiss is supposedly "desperate" to get Hough... he's even willing to make ABC cough up $3 million to do so.
"Mike thinks Derek would be the ultimate Bachelor because he's already a household name," the inside source continues. "[He's] desperate for another famous guy to star on the show, and they always come back to Derek."
Interesting... but according to other sources close to Hough, such "Bachelor" rumors are completely bogus. Gossip Cop claims that one of Hough's reps "literally laughed out loud" when asked about the casting offer, insisting that there's "no truth" to any of it. Hough's definitely not being "eyed" for the dating show.
What do readers think? Would Hough make a good "Bachelor?"
