The ongoing intrigue surrounding the Quicksilver character in Marvel's The Avengers 2 continues as the studio wants Aaron Taylor-Johnson, best known for his work in the Kick-Ass movies, to play the role, according to Deadline.

The character will also appear in Fox's upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past and will be played by Evan Peters of American Horror Story fame.
As Mstars previously reported, director Joss Whedon appeared on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" last month and confirmed that Quicksilver would appear in the sequel despite his inclusion in Bryan Singer's X-Men.
Whedon also said Scarlet Witch would appear in The Avengers 2.
"Besides the fact that I grew up reading them, their powers are very visually interesting," Whedon told Fallon. "One of the problems I had on the first (Avengers movie) was everybody basically had punchy powers. 'I can hit!' 'I can also hit!' 'I can hit harder!'
"But coming into the second one, I was like, 'He's got super speed. She can weave spells and do a little telekinesis, get inside your head. There's good stuff that they can do that can help keep it fresh.'"
Quicksilver would be the first character to appear in both Marvel's and Fox's respective superhero franchises, but as Mstars previously reported:
"In the comics, Quicksilver is Pietro Maximoff, the mutant son of Magneto. But Marvel and Disney cannot use or reference his mutant nature or his lineage in The Avengers 2 because both of those character traits belong to Fox's movie rights deal."
