Sylvester Stallone seems to have confirmed that Mel Gibson will play the villain in the second action hero all-star sequel, The Expendables 3.

Stallone posted the following on his official Twitter account on Monday night:
Mad Max vs Barney Ross......

While this may just be a tease, Screen Rant breaks down the possibility that Stallone did in fact confirm Gibson's role:
"Sly previously announced that the Oscar-winning actor/filmmaker had passed on the chance to direct the cheesy action-throwback flick, so it came as a bit of a surprise when Gibson's name later reappeared as a potential new cast addition. On the other hand, Gibson's next onscreen appearance will be that of the antagonist in director Robert Rodriguez' Machete Kills, where he plays a madman bent on spreading anarchy across the globe. That is to say, it's possible that Mel's decided to have some fun (while revitalizing his career in the process), before he returns to making serious fare like his next planned directorial effort: the gruesome Viking tale Berserker."
Mstars reported back in June that Showbiz411.com had an exclusive report that Gibson would play the main antagonist in the film.
If true, Gibson would join his former Planet Hollywood partners Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie.
The rest of The Expendables 3 cast reportedly includes Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich and perhaps Steven Seagal, one of the few 80s/90s action star who has never appeared in Stallone's shoot-em-up movie series.
The Expendables 3 is set for release in the United States on Aug. 15, 2014.
