The Tampa Bay Rays battle the Boston Red Sox in Game 4 of the series on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 6:10 p.m. ET at the legendary Fenway Park in Boston, MA. Heading into the second half of the MLB 2013 regular season, Bleacher Report sports analysts Benjamin Klein predicts the season outlook team power rankings. The Rays currently rank the no 1 overall team. As Klein points out:
"One of the hottest teams in baseball right now, the Rays move into the top spot in the power rankings. While they couldn't hang onto their slight lead in the AL East, taking four-of-six from the Red Sox and Yankees was still a big accomplishment. The team is in a great position to retake the lead in the upcoming week. Matt Moore has really been outstanding for the Rays all season long, as he's 14-3 on the year with a 3.41 ERA. Jeremy Hellickson has done a good job as well, as he's already a 10-game winner, but he needs to get that 4.48 ERA a bit lower. If David Price can stay healthy, Tampa Bay will be a tough team to beat down the stretch."
Tampa Bay currently holds a 62-43 winning record, having won Game 2 against the Sox (6-2).
The Red Sox snag the no 5 overall spot (out of 30 teams). According to Klein:
"Time is dwindling before the trade deadline, and the Red Sox still have yet to find a suitable replacement for Clay Buchholz. It's unclear when the right-hander will take the mound again for Boston this season, as he hasn't pitched since June 8. The team has been getting by with minor leaguers stepping up. Boston could decide to go with Brandon Workman for the rest of the season, but that would be a bold move. It seems much more likely that general manager Ben Cherington would go out and make a deal to acquire a starter. The organization has a bunch of young talent that it can ship off in a trade."
Boston heads into Game 4 with 63 wins and 43 losses. The Sox won Games 1 and 3 against the Rays.
Tonight's game is a makeup from the postponed baseball face-off on 7/25.
