Sam Winchester wasn't looking too hot at the end of the Season 8 finale of "Supernatural," but his portrayer, Jared Padalecki, is alive and well and revealed some information about the upcoming Season 9.
Padalecki gave an exclusive video interview on the show's Facebook page and offered his opinion about the block of "Supernatural" episodes in the 2013-14 TV season.

"Season 9 is our best season in a long, long, long time," Padalecki said. "We've got a lot of cool new characters, some great old throwback characters, and just a really great, strong storyline. So I'm really excited to have that on our new night where hopefully people tune in and remember what the show is all about."
Padalecki also talked about his favorite experience in Season 8 when he worked with Mark Sheppard, who plays Crowley, almost exclusively for a few days when filming the finale.
"A lot did happen in Season 8. The biggest part that sticks out to me was filming for three days with Mark Sheppard," Padalecki said. "I really found that the script was beating up Sam and Jared. I found myself coming to work like, man, I really felt like I was in pain, and I think it translated on screen."
Supernatural premieres at 9 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Season 9's first episode, "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here," deals with the fallout from last season's finale, as Sam will become deathly ill as he suffers the effects of the trials. Dean races to try to save his brother's life and even gets desperate enough to ask any and all angels in the area for help.
