There will be a live feed video of the Orionid meteor shower tonight via NASA.  The meteors will be passing through the sky above earth on October 20 - October 21, 2012.  The live stream will begin at 11:00 p.m. eastern time and last until 3:00 a.m. eastern time.

"Earth is passing through a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, the source of the Orionids," Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office said.

"Since 2006, the Orionids have been one of the best showers of the year, with counts in some years up to 60 or more meteors per hour," he added. "If you don't want to wait until 2061, this is a way to see a bit of Halley's Comet."

Here is how you can best prepare to view the meteor shower tonight.

The best viewing conditions are at locations far from the city lights.  During the previous Perseid meteor showers in over the summer, skywatchers have camped out in the canyons and mountains to catch the best view.  Go to a spot with little to no clouds that can obstruct the view.

Dress warmly and bring a comfortable chair to take in the night sky and its beauty.  Prepare enough snacks and warm drinks to keep you and your company warm inside and out.

Enjoy tonight's shooting stars!
