Amanda Davis, an Atlanta-based Fox news channel 5 anchor, got in a car accident on Sunday (Nov. 11) and was arrested and charged with a DUI for reckless driving. According to reports, Davis was involved in a wrong-way crash at approximately 12:20 a.m. and was believed to be driving while impaired, although the Atlanta, GA-based news broadcaster refused to take a field sobriety test or state-administered chemical tests.
When an officer arrived at the scene early Sunday morning, Davis' green Fiat was facing northbound in the southbound lane of Piedmont Avenue. The WAGA news anchor ultimately hit a black Toyota Corolla driven by David Jarman (who was driving the right way in the southbound lane). According to the responding officer, Davis reeked of alcohol. When asked if she had been drinking, Davis responded with "yes."
Although Davis refused to take any sort of sobriety test at the scene of the accident, law enforcement had enough reasonable cause to believe Davis had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. Her Georgia driving license was promptly confiscated and Davis was transferred to the Atlanta jail and charged with a DUI, failure to maintain lane, and reckless driving.
According to Atlanta Channel 2, Jarman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after complaining about pain and injuries but is in stable condition. Fox 5 vice president of news wrote to Channel 2, "We are aware of the situation and we are currently investigating."
