During the Fox episode which aired on Tuesday (Feb. 19), participants of the roundtable were debating a proposed Colorado legislation that would allow women to carry concealed weapons on college campuses to help prevent sexual assaults. 64-year-old Beckel, a former Democratic campaign manager known for his controversial and outspoken remarks, stated - "When was the last time you heard about a rape on campus?" The rest of his co-hosts were stunned, insisting that date rape on college campuses is an especially common epidemic. Check out the clip here:

The video has since gone viral, with many viewers shocked and angered by Beckel's rather naive mentality towards the very serious issue and problem of rape.

Peter Cahill is the CEO of LifeLine Response and LifeLine Edu, a personal safety smartphone app designed to end assaults and rapes on campus. He recently released this statement to Politico, bashing Beckel for his insensitive claims:

"Every year, thousands of college students are sexually assaulted and these kinds of ill-informed statements only set us back on the work we are doing to end assaults on college campuses. He should be ashamed of what he said and apologize immediately, then spend time on a college campus educating himself on the vulgar reality of the fact that 1 in 4 women on a college campus are in fact victims of a sexual assault. Sexual assaults are reaching epidemic levels and it demands the facts to be accurate and precise."

What do Mstarz readers think, should Beckel apologize for stating that rape is not a common problem on college campuses?
