Mumford and Sons may have just won the Album of the Year Grammy, but don't think the folk-rockers are content to sit back on thier laurels. Marcus Mumford revealed to Rolling Stone that they are already working on material for thier third album that will go in a dedicedly different direction than Sigh No More and Babel, namely a hip-hop one.

We really want to rap." said Mumford in the interview "We've just got so much to say - saying it through a melody doesn't really work for me."

According to Mumford, the band has already started enlisting some A-list talent for their newfound careers as rap stars.
We've been talking with Jay-Z about it," he said "It's gonna be a fresh experience for our band."

Mumford and Sons faithful fans need not worry, though. The English folksters aren't abandoning their past

"[Folk is] a sound we'll always play," Mumford told Rolling Stone. "The world has been really supportive of those songs, but then there's other sounds we want to make."

Keyboardist Ben Lovett put it succinctly when he said that thier previous albums were "like brothers" and the band is ready to "do something that is a cousin."

Blending the sounds of folk and rap can be tricky, but it has been successful before. Take, for example, the so-called "ganstagrass" sound of T.O.N.E-Z in his song "Long Hard Times To Come" (aka the theme from FX's Justified)

What do you think? Can Mumford pull off a switch to hip-hop or rap?
